Academy of Perfumery and Aromatics
The Academy of Perfumery and Aromaticsâ„¢ (ACADEPA) was founded in December 2002 in New York City by Master Perfumer and current President Christophe Laudamiel with the ultimate vision of introducing a Perfumery chapter into the Academies of Arts and Sciences or into other academic or governmental societies where olfactory art has so far never been represented.
The Academy is a not-for-profit organization, registered as 501c3 in the USA and allowed to
operate out of New York State.
Its mission is to foster the art and science of perfumery and other smelly yet respectable activities in the world of olfaction.
The Academy will manage programs to foster perfumery education, independently from immediate market necessities. The Academy will ultimately host the first chapter of reputable Academicians.
The Academy shall host the Perfumery Code of Ethics as well as co-manage the up-and- coming Wiki common of perfume formulas.
The Academy, through its communication team, might make itself available to answer burning or professional questions from journalists or other professional bodies, depending on the relevance of its combined expertise.
The Academy does not lobby for an industry directly but certainly promotes, defend or develop the art of perfumery, its ingredients, its artists and other designers as well as its chemists and farmers or producers (the makers of our materials).
The Academy is neither a critique nor a judging organization nor functions with seniority-based principles.
The Aromatics branch shows that we believe chefs, food molecularists, and mixologists share the same art and science and should all unite under the same Academy.
Mission
ACADEPA mission is to unite, share, promote, elevate, preserve, and educate about the Art professionally practiced by perfume composers, perfume designers, scent sculptors, olfactory artists, as well as chefs, mixologists, and other food artists.
